Volunteer Opportunities for Youth at SOWW
SOWW welcomes and treasures the support of our wounded, ill, or injured service members by the youth of our community! Many young hands have enthusiastically pulled weeds, written thank you notes, made cookies for bake sales, and built lasting structures on the grounds. We never cease to be touched by the generosity of their hearts, and eagerness to help.
Below are listed just a few ways, big and small, that youth can get involved in our mission.
- Thank You Letter Writing
- Encouraging, handwritten notes are always appreciated! We include them in welcome baskets to each visiting warrior family, place them throughout the Retreat homes, and offer them at special warrior events. The service members and their families are genuinely grateful for the personal message. Please place in unsealed envelopes.
- Donation Drives
- Both Retreats are always in need of consumable products, like cleaning and kitchen supplies, linens, and toiletries. A complete list can be found on our website: www.willingwarriors.org.
- Children Games and Activities
- Many children visit the Retreat with their parents each year, and look forward to having fun with their family on our 37 acres. Donations of board games, arts and crafts, and outdoor games and sports equipment for all age groups are needed to make their stays memorable!
