The Visiting Chef Program takes a farm-to-table approach
The signature activity at the Retreat and one of the most memorable is the Visiting Chef Program. On Sunday evenings, our guests are treated to gourmet dinners prepared by any one of the 40+world-class chefs from the Northern Virginia area who volunteer their services. The menus are carefully planned in advance and tailor-made to the tastes and requirements of our guests. Some menu requests are adventurous…. roast quail with apples and pecans anyone? Or on the other hand, it may be some delicious falling-off-the-bone ribs made with the chef’s special sauce… how about some jalapeno cheddar and chive biscuits on the side!
Every attention to detail is considered to make our warrior families feel extra special. The Visiting Chef Program is much more than exceptional food; it brings a personalized, 5-star dining experience to our guests at the Retreat who otherwise, may never have such an opportunity.
Many Warriors and family members of all ages don an apron and love the opportunity to help and learn from the chef. Our Visiting Chef Program strives to create fond memories for the families that last a lifetime.
If you are a chef interested in volunteering, or food aficionado interested in assisting the chefs, please contact our program lead, Larry Zilliox, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
It is a great way for chefs and volunteers to give back doing the thing they love most.
