4 Ways you can help a Wounded Warrior Retreat
These committed core volunteers tirelessly maintain the Retreat’s 37 acres, creating a welcoming and beautiful setting for our guests. They’ve logged many an hour on the zero turns, pruned, pulled countless weeds, edged miles of gardens, and kept the many trails surrounding the Retreat clear and functional. It’s hard work, but worth it all when they witness our warriors and their families marvel at the peace and beauty of the grounds, explore the trails, and spend family time on the playgrounds.
Interested in ways to help them out? Here are a few:
*SOWW’s Adopt a Garden Program: Sponsor one of our many garden or flag pole patios, keeping it appealing for our warrior families. We will place a sign at the site with the sponsor name(s).
*We are in great need of donations for a commercial grade, 60 inch zero turn, a Brush Hog, and a tractor. We are maintaining what is actually a 30 acre park, and having the proper equipment goes a long way! 7/11 Gift cards for gas are greatly appreciated as well.
*Substitute zero turn operators: Needed Wednesdays and Thursdays, April-October. We will train you!
*Participation in SOWW Beautification Days: Come out by yourself, with your family, scout troop, organization, or as part of a workplace service project. We have a long list of projects from which to choose.
