MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENT FLORENT GROBERG FIRST TO RECEIVE WILLING WARRIOR AWARD AT 2ND ANNUAL GALA IN TIME FOR VETERANS DAY

Haymarket, Virginia:  Serve Our Willing Warriors (SOWW) is pleased to announce that Medal of Honor Recipient Capt. Florent Groberg will be speaking at the 2nd Annual Willing Warrior Gala on November 4th 2017. Capt. Groberg will also be the first recipient of the Willing Warrior Award as credited by SOWW.

The Willing Warrior Award is dedicated to honoring those who embody exemplary dedication in the recovery of our returning service members who are wounded, ill and injured.

Capt. Florent Groberg’s team was in Afghanistan, escorting American and Afghan military leaders to a local security meeting when they were approached by a suicide bomber. He jumped into action to protect his team, saving the lives of his fellow service members. “august 8, 2012, was not a bad day; it was the worst day of my life.” Goberg says.

In his recently published book 8 Seconds of Courage, Groberg recounts his moments of courage on the battlefield.

Groberg continues to be an advocate for programs that Serve Our Willing Warriors offers for recovering warriors that return from war. In addition to 37 acres and an 11,000 square foot retreat, SOWW provides a home away from home for wounded, ill and injured service members in  the picturesque backyard of Haymarket, VA.

Florent Groberg is one of eleven living recipients to have received this honor during the Afghan- American War.

“The proudest thing I have ever done in my life is to wear this uniform and serve my country.”
Retired Capt. Florent Groberg
